Leadership – Working Your Home-Based Business

When I think of leadership the words that come to mind are, integrity, enthusiasm, vision and serving. In a nutshell those are the words that sum up leadership for me.

Let’s start with integrity. Have you ever heard the saying “your actions speak so loudly that I cannot hear what you are saying?” A leader must have integrity. People will not follow someone that they do not trust. What is your personal code of conduct? What are you modeling? Do you expect people to do things that you are not doing? Do you say one thing and do another? Do you tell the truth about your business opportunity and what you are earning? Do you make things seem better than they truly are? Whether we like it or not, our team will do what we do and follow our lead. My suggestion is to be sure that you are someone that you would want to enroll and work with.

Many people in this industry are taught the fake-it-to-you-make-it way to do business. I believe we have got that line confused. I do believe in acting as if you have made it. I do believe in positive thoughts and affirmations, I also believe in visualization. I believe that positive thoughts and deeds are what are going to get you where you want to be. What I don’t believe in is telling people fibs, or down right lies about how much you are making, I don’t believe in living extremely over your means to trick someone into thinking you are doing well, and I don’t believe in “tricking the deal” so that people hear nothing but hype from you and then they are disappointed when things don’t turn out as you promised. It is our duty as professional networkers to be honest and upfront with people. To show people that this is a real industry that they can honestly make their dreams come true. This is a business with a learning curve. If you are willing to do the things that most people aren’t willing to do your life will change. There is a better way out there and we have it.

Let’s now move on to enthusiasm and vision. It is impossible to be a great leader without enthusiasm and vision. Leadership in network marketing is different than most any other industry because we are leading a volunteer army. A good leader has enthusiasm and vision in abundance. Where do you see yourself going in your company? People want to join someone who is going to the top, someone who loves what they are doing. They do not want to take on a project. How do you sound when you are speaking about your business opportunity? Are you excited to show people what you have to offer? Are you proud of your company and your products?

Once people join your business a good leader always remembers that he/she is the leader. People are watching you and ready to do what you do. Are you out there leading from the front? Are you doing the money making activities in your business, or are you on the phone complaining that no one is working and you don’t know why your business is not growing.

Last but not least, all of the great leaders I know are servant leaders. A servant leader is one who is up at night getting things done while others are watching TV. A servant leader believes in others when they don’t believe in themselves. One of my favorite sayings is “ look for the best and praise it.” A great leader helps people to be their best. They know how to genuinely encourage others. A servant leader teaches people the way to do things and then steps out of their way so they can shine.

Until next time, remember I BELIEVE IN YOU!

Beware of the Naked Man Who Offers You His Shirt.

Recently I have been hearing a lot about many home-based “business opportunities.” I have had many, many people come to me and ask me to join the next best, most wonderful thing out there. Something that will provide you with residual income for life, and the worst part is some of them will even offer you walk-away residual income. (There is no such thing as walk away residual income! – When you walk away eventually your income does too!)Today I would like to share some information with you so that you don’t get sucked into the hype and excitement that surrounds many opportunities. If you want to be a successful in a business from home you MUST use business criteria to investigate the business.

There is a wonderful book out the titled Beware the Naked Man Who Offers You His Shirt. –written by Harvey Mackay. I absolutely love this title. It is these words that I think of most often when the next best thing is being presented to me.

It is a fact that many network marketers are looking for the next “million dollar – get rich scheme.” I am here to tell you that ALL good businesses take work and effort. If you are told that you can get rich quickly, please run; don’t walk away from what they are telling you no matter how good it sounds.

Next, if the business is asking you to pay a fee of $199 – $399 simply to get a license to work the business it is most like not a good residual business.

There are some new energy companies out there that are teaching that each business person only needs to bring in 8 – 10 customers yet they are pushing residual income hard.
In all of my years of studying this industry I have learned that customers are what provide you with residual income. Promotional money comes from enrolling people to work the business. You can make a nice profit from all the $199 – $399 fees people pay. But what happens when the people you enroll quite enrolling people to work the business?

So the bottom line of my blog today is for you to check if there are real customers, really purchasing products or using the service from your company that they are really going to use up, and really want to reorder.

Next be sure that the company you are looking at is not asking you to inventory the products your customers buy. Let the company be the warehouse. Let the company be customer service too.

In closing PLEASE, Beware of the Naked Man Who Offers You His Shirt! Be sure to do your due-diligence BEFORE you jump in. If someone is trying to convince you to join on hype alone this is most likely a company where a lot of people will get hurt and only a few that got in at the top will win.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about joining a company. I would be happy to share what I know.

Until next time I wish you the true riches of life.

People Ask Me How I Organize and Manage All of My Email Lists.

Do You Look For Counsel or Opininons?

I have spent many years coaching and mentoring people to succeed in the business world. One of the biggest hurdles I see people having is with whom they talk and listen for business and prosperity advice.

My question to you is to whom do you listen?  Do you listen to the people who tell you that what you want will not work?  “Don’t try that – you’ll get hurt”.  Do you listen to the naysayers and the negative people?  Do you listen to the people who have been stuck in their lives, and most likely will stay stuck, because the devil they know is better than something new?

Consider this all of this mostly unsolicited advice is just simply people’s opinion.  There is absolutely no fact to most of it.  Actually, there is not even much thought put into it.  All these people are doing is sharing their fear with you.  Unfortunately, many people will hear these fearful thoughts, buy into them, own them and stop themselves dead in their tracks.  Most likely they will not even know what stopped them. They just stop moving forward and fall back in line with the people who told them that it couldn’t be done.

It always amazes me that so often we listen to these people.  I actually have no doubt that most of them mean well by giving us their sage advice.  Most likely they are trying to “save” you from all of the people who might hurt you.  What they don’t ever realize is they are the people who will hurt you if you let them.  They are the people who will hold you hostage with their “kindness”.

People with this mind set want you to be like them.  They will do their best to keep you stuck in their rut, too.

Successful people listen to people who can give them counsel on what they are choosing to do, people who can show them the ropes, and show them what steps to take.  Successful people listen to people who say what you want to do may be challenging, but it can be done.  Successful people seek out and listen to other successful people; they search for mentors and coaches who can show them the way.  Successful people do not spend their time thinking about why things can’t be done; they spend their time reading autobiographies of other successful people.  People who choose success are readers and they go to workshops to learn what they need to know to move forward.

Successful people take inspired action regardless of the fear they feel.  Each day successful people will take some action that will move them forward. They know that their success will come from a series of baby steps, so they take action, they get feedback from that action and they adjust their actions using the feedback.  Successful people know that their creator is behind them helping them, guiding them and paving the way for them; they know that they would not be given a dream they could not have.  Successful people will have failures as they take action, but they will always fail forward. They will always learn from their actions and tweak their approach accordingly.

In closing: Are you choosing success, or are you choosing to stay stuck in your rut?   The choice is truly up to you.

Until the next time I will you the BEST of ALL POSSIBILITIES!

Are You Innocently Harming Your Family?

There are hidden hazards present in today’s homes that may be a
serious threat to your family’s health.  It’s called “The Toxic Brew”.
Everyday household cleaners that you use regularly are full of chemicals.
In fact, more than 72,000 synthetic chemicals have been produced since WWII!
(Create a Safe and Healthy Home , by Dr. Joyce. M. Woods, 1996).
These chemicals have their costs.  Many give off unhealthy fumes that can
irritate the eyes, nose and lungs. Do you find that you have to spray and
run from the room when cleaning your bathroom and shower because the smell
is so bad?  Some cleaners are corrosive and can harm your skin.  Do you
have to wear gloves to clean?  Are your children allowed to touch the
products?  Do you feel safe letting them help you clean?   Many leave
behind TOXIC chemical residues. Children tend to touch everything and
then put their hands in their mouths or pick up food dropped on the floor.
You know how it goes, it’s the “3 second rule” !  They may be putting
chemicals in their mouths along with their toys and food.  When you “disinfect”
their toys, are you sure it’s safe for them to put them back in their mouths?
What residue is on all the cups, bottles and dishes your family drinks from?
Small amounts may not be immediately harmful but can accumulate to cause
health problems over time.  Many products contain ingredients that are
suspected of causing cancer.  The Consumer product Safety Commission connects
150 chemicals commonly found in our homes to allergies, birth defects, cancer
and psychological disorders.  Have you been curious about the increase in A.D.D.
symptoms in children? How about the rise in asthma conditions?

DO WE REALLY HAVE SOMETHING TO WORRY ABOUT?

* There are more than 3 million poisonings every year.   Household cleaners
are the #1 cause of poisonings in children and liquid dish soap is the
leading cause
* There has been a 28% increase in childhood cancer, such as leukemia,
since the addition of pesticides into household products.(Source: National
Cancer Institute)
* A 15 year study found that women who worked at home had a 54% higher death
rate from cancer than women who had jobs outside the home.  (Source: 17 year
EPA study)
* A woman’s fertility has also been negatively affected by the increased use
of chemicals.  In 1934 only 21 cases of endometriosis existed in the entire
world. Today over 5 million women have this condition, which causes infertility
in the US alone.
*In one decade, there has been a 42% increase in asthma (29% for men, 82% for
women) (Source: Center for Disease Control)

Just reducing (not eliminating) environmental carcinogens alone, would save at
least 50,000 lives from cancer annually. (Source: Dr. Lee Davis, former advisor
to the Secretary of Health)

And we wonder why we have so much illness today?
How is it that these deadly products can be on the shelves?

Manufacturers ARE NOT required to list the exact ingredients on a label.
Chemical names are often disguised by using “trade names”, so you may not
recognize the chemical for what it truly is.   Warning labels on containers
refer only to toxic hazards from ingestion, however, only 10% of health
problems from chemicals are caused by ingestion.  90% are caused by the
inhalation of vapors and absorption of particles.  (Please see the list of
Common Household Products and Their Toxic Ingredients.  You may find some of
your favorite products listed there.)

What can you do about it?

FIRST, you can get the TOXINS out of your home!  There are many safer products
on the market.   I can endorse a company*  with great confidence that has served
my family for over 7 years now.  This company can truly SIMPLIFY YOUR LIFE
saving you both time and money.  It can provide you with a one stop shopping
through a catalog or online system that offers a 100% satisfaction guarantee
on over 300 products for everyday use.  Since I’ve become a preferred customer,
we’ve seen many blessings, such as great prices and products delivered to my door
(which helps out a bunch with our busy life style!) and lots of help with chores
around the house. I can feel safe when children use our cleaning products,
bathe, brush their teeth, wash their hair, eat off our dishes and generally live
in a more non-toxic home and I’m able to help other families to do the same.
My hope is that you will review the facts carefully, do the research, and
prayerfully consider the changes you may like to make to provide a safer environment
for your family as well.
NEXT, you can share this article with others or encourage them to do the research themselves.
Thee important thing is to get the word out and promote change.  If more people stop using
these harmful products, perhaps we’ll make an impact on the irresponsible
manufacturers producing them. Be proactive-your family’s health is worth it.
