Leadership – Working Your Home-Based Business
When I think of leadership the words that come to mind are, integrity, enthusiasm, vision and serving. In a nutshell those are the words that sum up leadership for me.
Let’s start with integrity. Have you ever heard the saying “your actions speak so loudly that I cannot hear what you are saying?” A leader must have integrity. People will not follow someone that they do not trust. What is your personal code of conduct? What are you modeling? Do you expect people to do things that you are not doing? Do you say one thing and do another? Do you tell the truth about your business opportunity and what you are earning? Do you make things seem better than they truly are? Whether we like it or not, our team will do what we do and follow our lead. My suggestion is to be sure that you are someone that you would want to enroll and work with.
Many people in this industry are taught the fake-it-to-you-make-it way to do business. I believe we have got that line confused. I do believe in acting as if you have made it. I do believe in positive thoughts and affirmations, I also believe in visualization. I believe that positive thoughts and deeds are what are going to get you where you want to be. What I don’t believe in is telling people fibs, or down right lies about how much you are making, I don’t believe in living extremely over your means to trick someone into thinking you are doing well, and I don’t believe in “tricking the deal” so that people hear nothing but hype from you and then they are disappointed when things don’t turn out as you promised. It is our duty as professional networkers to be honest and upfront with people. To show people that this is a real industry that they can honestly make their dreams come true. This is a business with a learning curve. If you are willing to do the things that most people aren’t willing to do your life will change. There is a better way out there and we have it.
Let’s now move on to enthusiasm and vision. It is impossible to be a great leader without enthusiasm and vision. Leadership in network marketing is different than most any other industry because we are leading a volunteer army. A good leader has enthusiasm and vision in abundance. Where do you see yourself going in your company? People want to join someone who is going to the top, someone who loves what they are doing. They do not want to take on a project. How do you sound when you are speaking about your business opportunity? Are you excited to show people what you have to offer? Are you proud of your company and your products?
Once people join your business a good leader always remembers that he/she is the leader. People are watching you and ready to do what you do. Are you out there leading from the front? Are you doing the money making activities in your business, or are you on the phone complaining that no one is working and you don’t know why your business is not growing.
Last but not least, all of the great leaders I know are servant leaders. A servant leader is one who is up at night getting things done while others are watching TV. A servant leader believes in others when they don’t believe in themselves. One of my favorite sayings is “ look for the best and praise it.” A great leader helps people to be their best. They know how to genuinely encourage others. A servant leader teaches people the way to do things and then steps out of their way so they can shine.

What are your goals for 2012?
What is on your agenda for 2012?
Here it is another new year. What are your plans? Are you challenging yourself? What are your dreams and aspirations? I suggest that this year you move out of your own way and begin to have the life you have always dreamed about. We all have many resources available to us. Why not use them to make the changes you desire.
Do you remember when you were a kid and no dream was too big? You could walk on the moon, be a cowboy, or even be a major league athlete. Unfortunately too many of use were told to quit dreaming. Face the facts and grow up. Well I say hooey to that. I urge you to dream again. I urge you, as you plan for the New Year, dream big, make detailed plans, state your intentions and then go out and actually make things happen. Find out what it will take to get want you want out of life.
We live in absolutely amazing times. We have more knowledge at our fingertips than complete libraries had 50 years ago. We can learn from home, we can go to school, we can become an apprentice, and we can find a home-based business. We can change the world starting right in our own little corner.
As the great Gandhi said, “ Become the change you wish to see”. I am convinced that each of us has greatness within us. Some of us have businesses to start, others have books to write, while other of us may have children to raise, volunteering to do, or charities to start.
Oprah Winfrey, Bill Gates, Lance Armstrong, and Nelson Mandela stand out as individuals who have transformed our world. Each of them came from lesser means, and simply put made lemonade out of lemons. Each of these people has made huge changes in our world. Were they born great? I don’t believe so. They just had a vision stuck with it and moved heaven and earth to make it happen.
I believe it is important to live life avoiding regret. The facts are in, and someday we will all lie on our deathbed looking back through the history of our lives. We will undoubtedly think about what we wished we had done or accomplished. I for one don’t want to regret what could have been, what should have been. So I am deciding today to pursue my dreams.
So, I ask again. What’s on your agenda for 2012?
Use your talents, resources and skills to do something extraordinary with your life.
“Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat.” — Teddy Roosevelt
Until next time, I wish you the true riches of life, love, peace, happiness, and the time to enjoy it all.

Beware of the Naked Man Who Offers You His Shirt.
Recently I have been hearing a lot about many home-based “business opportunities.” I have had many, many people come to me and ask me to join the next best, most wonderful thing out there. Something that will provide you with residual income for life, and the worst part is some of them will even offer you walk-away residual income. (There is no such thing as walk away residual income! – When you walk away eventually your income does too!)Today I would like to share some information with you so that you don’t get sucked into the hype and excitement that surrounds many opportunities. If you want to be a successful in a business from home you MUST use business criteria to investigate the business.
There is a wonderful book out the titled Beware the Naked Man Who Offers You His Shirt. –written by Harvey Mackay. I absolutely love this title. It is these words that I think of most often when the next best thing is being presented to me.
It is a fact that many network marketers are looking for the next “million dollar – get rich scheme.” I am here to tell you that ALL good businesses take work and effort. If you are told that you can get rich quickly, please run; don’t walk away from what they are telling you no matter how good it sounds.
Next, if the business is asking you to pay a fee of $199 – $399 simply to get a license to work the business it is most like not a good residual business.
There are some new energy companies out there that are teaching that each business person only needs to bring in 8 – 10 customers yet they are pushing residual income hard.
In all of my years of studying this industry I have learned that customers are what provide you with residual income. Promotional money comes from enrolling people to work the business. You can make a nice profit from all the $199 – $399 fees people pay. But what happens when the people you enroll quite enrolling people to work the business?
So the bottom line of my blog today is for you to check if there are real customers, really purchasing products or using the service from your company that they are really going to use up, and really want to reorder.
Next be sure that the company you are looking at is not asking you to inventory the products your customers buy. Let the company be the warehouse. Let the company be customer service too.
In closing PLEASE, Beware of the Naked Man Who Offers You His Shirt! Be sure to do your due-diligence BEFORE you jump in. If someone is trying to convince you to join on hype alone this is most likely a company where a lot of people will get hurt and only a few that got in at the top will win.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about joining a company. I would be happy to share what I know.
Until next time I wish you the true riches of life.

Stress in the Work Place verse Non Stress
I was reading the Pittsburgh Business Times yesterday and found an article all about stress at the work place. –Written by kmamula
The article listed the top 7 causes of stress in the work place as follows
14% of people said low pay
11% said commuting
9% said unreasonable workload,
9% said fear of being fired or laid off
8% said annoying coworkers
5% annoying boss
4% lack of advancement opportunity –Source: Harris Interactive Survey Done For Everest College –Polling About 1000 U.S. Adults
It is my pleasure to share that the business concept that I work with has NONE of these things.
In my business if you are willing to do the work the sky is the limit for pay!
In my business you can work from home in your jammies, or go out to the finest restaurants to conduct business. Just imagine the time you can save from sitting in traffic.
In my business you simply help other people. You choose how much work you want to do and when. Your income is also residual and reproductive.
In my business you cannot get laid off or fired unless you do something illegal.
In my business your only boss is YOU!
Lastly, in my business the ability to advance is almost endless. You choose the work you are willing to do. If you treat this business like a business you will advance to the level you believe you deserve.
If this business concept sound interesting to you give me a call and we can set up a time to get you educated about us. Once you have the facts you can be the judge as to if this is something you feel might enhance your life.

Are You Too Busy?
ARE YOU TOO BUSY?
It makes me sad to hear how many American’s wear working 24/7 as a badge of honor and pride. What has happened to leisure time? What happened to all of labor saving devices that are supposed to make our life easier?
Far too many people consider working a 60 – 80 hour work week an accepted standard. Our grandparents fought for a 40-hour work week. What are we thinking? Most of us are sleep-deprived, in debt, and suffer from stress related challenges.
What can we do about it?
There are no easy answers. However, here are a few suggestions that may be beneficial for you as they were for me.
Learn to say no. It is ok to not go to every event that you are invited to attend. It is ok to not be on every volunteer committee, and it is ok to say no to our family when it is necessary.
Take stock of your life. Decide what it is that brings you joy. Do those things; the others JUST SAY NO.
Learn to spend less than you make. When money is not a problem in your life your life gets much less hectic. Do you really need to keep up with the Jones’s? There are as many ways to save money, as there are people on this planet. When my husband and I went through our spending we were amazed at some of the frivolous thing we spent money on that we did not even enjoy. Be sure that you REALLY want what you are spending money on. In fact I suggest waiting 30 days to make purchases. If what you want is still on your mind after 30 days then buy it. More likely than not you will be on to something else after that amount of time.
Live your values. Make a list of your priorities. Review the things that are most important to you. Keep these things first in your life.
Plan your day. Make a list of all the things you think you should do. Then
Go back and cross off the unimportant items. Come on we all have them!
Plan time for some fun in each day.
Use time management skills. None of us can really manage time, however we can manage what we do with our time. Use a timer to keep on task with chores. Run errands all at once. Put time limits on meetings and phone calls.
Last but not least take a few minutes each day to perform small random acts of kindness. It will make the world a better place and it will certainly make you feel good too.
The Difference Between a Rut and a Grave
I spoke to a woman today who reminded me that most people are spending their precious time on this earth believing in lack and poverty. She first came to me looking for a change. She told me she was tired of working for big corporations. She was tired of following someone else’s rules all the time. She told me she wanted to be her own boss; she wanted to work when she wanted to. She wanted to make a six-figure income. She wanted to own her own life. She really wanted to have time to work at her favorite charities.
We talked together and I showed her the company I work with. I showed her how she could have the income she desired if she was willing to do the work. I showed her how this business could fit into her life. I showed her how this company is changing people’s lives all over the country. She was excited! She was telling me about all of the possibilities she saw with this business. THEN her fear and poverty programming stepped in. Instead of thinking about how she could make money and enhance her life as well as helping a lot of people, she got completely hung up on losing her unemployment benefits if she made money. Keep in mind, these were the same benefits that she could not afford to live on one conversation ago, but there ya go…her poverty consciousness came raging in to her brain and she talked herself out of something better, so she could hang on to something that wasn’t working in the first place.
Her next hang-up came from the fact that she did not want to have to pay her own social security tax. Really? When you have a profitable home-based business, paying social security tax is far outweighed by the benefits of all of the deductions you can take for having a business from home. Once again, she is hanging on to what she believes and staying stuck in her rut.
I write this article today because I meet many people who are just like this woman. They want something different in their life but they just aren’t willing to do something about it. Albert Einstein said, “ The definition of insanity is to keep doing the same thing over and over and expect different results.” How often do you find yourself in the same position?
There is only one place in the entire world that you can make changes for the better, and that is outside of your comfort zone. I urge you take a step outside your little box. Once you take that step, more steps will be shown to you and you will start to wonder what you were thinking about that was so frightening. Be aware of living your life from poverty thinking. Keep on the look out for the “BUTs”, the “SHOULDs” and the “WHAT-IFs” in your life. When you find yourself saying or thinking these words, stop yourself. Take the time and actually change that thought to a positive thought that anything is possible. Arguing for your limitations is the biggest waste of time there is. Our creator endows us all with the ability to make choices. All limitations are self-imposed by our learned poverty thinking. Get out of your rut. Teach yourself to think and live large!
Our living small does not serve anyone. When we choose to move outside of our comfort zone and grow in glorious ways we inspire others to do the same.
Keep in mind that it is not only your right and privilege to walk in the abundance your creator has for you – it is actually your responsibility to do so.
