Beware of the Naked Man Who Offers You His Shirt.

Recently I have been hearing a lot about many home-based “business opportunities.” I have had many, many people come to me and ask me to join the next best, most wonderful thing out there. Something that will provide you with residual income for life, and the worst part is some of them will even offer you walk-away residual income. (There is no such thing as walk away residual income! – When you walk away eventually your income does too!)Today I would like to share some information with you so that you don’t get sucked into the hype and excitement that surrounds many opportunities. If you want to be a successful in a business from home you MUST use business criteria to investigate the business.

There is a wonderful book out the titled Beware the Naked Man Who Offers You His Shirt. –written by Harvey Mackay. I absolutely love this title. It is these words that I think of most often when the next best thing is being presented to me.

It is a fact that many network marketers are looking for the next “million dollar – get rich scheme.” I am here to tell you that ALL good businesses take work and effort. If you are told that you can get rich quickly, please run; don’t walk away from what they are telling you no matter how good it sounds.

Next, if the business is asking you to pay a fee of $199 – $399 simply to get a license to work the business it is most like not a good residual business.

There are some new energy companies out there that are teaching that each business person only needs to bring in 8 – 10 customers yet they are pushing residual income hard.
In all of my years of studying this industry I have learned that customers are what provide you with residual income. Promotional money comes from enrolling people to work the business. You can make a nice profit from all the $199 – $399 fees people pay. But what happens when the people you enroll quite enrolling people to work the business?

So the bottom line of my blog today is for you to check if there are real customers, really purchasing products or using the service from your company that they are really going to use up, and really want to reorder.

Next be sure that the company you are looking at is not asking you to inventory the products your customers buy. Let the company be the warehouse. Let the company be customer service too.

In closing PLEASE, Beware of the Naked Man Who Offers You His Shirt! Be sure to do your due-diligence BEFORE you jump in. If someone is trying to convince you to join on hype alone this is most likely a company where a lot of people will get hurt and only a few that got in at the top will win.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about joining a company. I would be happy to share what I know.

Until next time I wish you the true riches of life.

Stress in the Work Place verse Non Stress

I was reading the Pittsburgh Business Times yesterday and found an article all about stress at the work place. –Written by kmamula

The article listed the top 7 causes of stress in the work place as follows
14% of people said low pay
11% said commuting
9% said unreasonable workload,
9% said fear of being fired or laid off
8% said annoying coworkers
5% annoying boss
4% lack of advancement opportunity –Source: Harris Interactive Survey Done For Everest College –Polling About 1000 U.S. Adults

It is my pleasure to share that the business concept that I work with has NONE of these things.

In my business if you are willing to do the work the sky is the limit for pay!

In my business you can work from home in your jammies, or go out to the finest restaurants to conduct business. Just imagine the time you can save from sitting in traffic.

In my business you simply help other people. You choose how much work you want to do and when. Your income is also residual and reproductive.

In my business you cannot get laid off or fired unless you do something illegal.

In my business your only boss is YOU!

Lastly, in my business the ability to advance is almost endless. You choose the work you are willing to do. If you treat this business like a business you will advance to the level you believe you deserve.

If this business concept sound interesting to you give me a call and we can set up a time to get you educated about us. Once you have the facts you can be the judge as to if this is something you feel might enhance your life.

Are You Too Busy?

ARE YOU TOO BUSY?

It makes me sad to hear how many American’s wear working 24/7 as a badge of honor and pride.  What has happened to leisure time?  What happened to all of labor saving devices that are supposed to make our life easier?

Far too many people consider working a 60 – 80 hour work week an accepted standard.  Our grandparents fought for a 40-hour work week.  What are we thinking?  Most of us are sleep-deprived, in debt, and suffer from stress related challenges.

What can we do about it?

There are no easy answers.  However, here are a few suggestions that may be beneficial for you as they were for me.

Learn to say no.   It is ok to not go to every event that you are invited to attend.  It is ok to not be on every volunteer committee, and it is ok to say no to our family when it is necessary.

Take stock of your life.  Decide what it is that brings you joy.  Do those things; the others JUST SAY NO.

Learn to spend less than you make.  When money is not a problem in your life your life gets much less hectic.  Do you really need to keep up with the Jones’s? There are as many ways to save money, as there are people on this planet.  When my husband and I went through our spending we were amazed at some of the frivolous thing we spent money on that we did not even enjoy.  Be sure that you REALLY want what you are spending money on.  In fact I suggest waiting 30 days to make purchases.  If what you want is still on your mind after 30 days then buy it.  More likely than not you will be on to something else after that amount of time.

Live your values.  Make a list of your priorities.  Review the things that are most important to you.  Keep these things first in your life.

Plan your day.  Make a list of all the things you think you should do.  Then

Go back and cross off the unimportant items.  Come on we all have them!

Plan time for some fun in each day.

Use time management skills.  None of us can really manage time, however we can manage what we do with our time.  Use a timer to keep on task with chores.  Run errands all at once.  Put time limits on meetings and phone calls.

Last but not least take a few minutes each day to perform small random acts of kindness.  It will make the world a better place and it will certainly make you feel good too.

The Difference Between a Rut and a Grave

I spoke to a woman today who reminded me that most people are spending their precious time on this earth believing in lack and poverty. She first came to me looking for a change. She told me she was tired of working for big corporations. She was tired of following someone else’s rules all the time. She told me she wanted to be her own boss; she wanted to work when she wanted to. She wanted to make a six-figure income. She wanted to own her own life. She really wanted to have time to work at her favorite charities.

We talked together and I showed her the company I work with. I showed her how she could have the income she desired if she was willing to do the work. I showed her how this business could fit into her life. I showed her how this company is changing people’s lives all over the country. She was excited! She was telling me about all of the possibilities she saw with this business. THEN her fear and poverty programming stepped in. Instead of thinking about how she could make money and enhance her life as well as helping a lot of people, she got completely hung up on losing her unemployment benefits if she made money. Keep in mind, these were the same benefits that she could not afford to live on one conversation ago, but there ya go…her poverty consciousness came raging in to her brain and she talked herself out of something better, so she could hang on to something that wasn’t working in the first place.

Her next hang-up came from the fact that she did not want to have to pay her own social security tax. Really? When you have a profitable home-based business, paying social security tax is far outweighed by the benefits of all of the deductions you can take for having a business from home. Once again, she is hanging on to what she believes and staying stuck in her rut.

I write this article today because I meet many people who are just like this woman. They want something different in their life but they just aren’t willing to do something about it. Albert Einstein said, “ The definition of insanity is to keep doing the same thing over and over and expect different results.” How often do you find yourself in the same position?

There is only one place in the entire world that you can make changes for the better, and that is outside of your comfort zone. I urge you take a step outside your little box. Once you take that step, more steps will be shown to you and you will start to wonder what you were thinking about that was so frightening. Be aware of living your life from poverty thinking. Keep on the look out for the “BUTs”, the “SHOULDs” and the “WHAT-IFs” in your life. When you find yourself saying or thinking these words, stop yourself. Take the time and actually change that thought to a positive thought that anything is possible. Arguing for your limitations is the biggest waste of time there is. Our creator endows us all with the ability to make choices. All limitations are self-imposed by our learned poverty thinking. Get out of your rut. Teach yourself to think and live large!

Our living small does not serve anyone. When we choose to move outside of our comfort zone and grow in glorious ways we inspire others to do the same.

Keep in mind that it is not only your right and privilege to walk in the abundance your creator has for you – it is actually your responsibility to do so.

Are You Doing Due-Diligence Before You Join A Company?

Once again I am writing about some of the crazy things I hear about in the network marketing, mlm, direct sales industry.

Please note, I absolutely love making reliable residual income and I think that this is one of the best ways I have ever seen to have all of the options and choices you would like in your life.  However, doing your due-diligence is crucial. Check out the entire compensation plan and understand what you are required to do BEFORE you sign on the dotted line.

I just sat down with someone last week that is absolutely in love with the company she is with.  She has been with them for years, yet she is not in a position of true, reliable, residual income.  In fact she is not even making a living wage.   As I sat with her I realized that she truly drank the punch.  After telling me that one of her favorite things about the company is they do not penalize people for slowing down or stopping for a while she proceeded to tell me her story.

Due to some family challenges she has had to give up her position in the company thus loosing her bonus car, which was a lease from the company so she either had to give up the car or buy out the lease.  She also gave up the income on her personal enrollees teams.  Thus when she is ready to start over she need to absolutely restart her team because most of it was taken from her.  She keeps her personal enrollees, but their enrollees sales and volume go to her director.  IS THAT NOT A PENALTY FOR SLOWING DOWN???

She also proceeded to explain to me why she had over $7500 of inventory in her home and she knew that it wasn’t really enough for her to make good money but it mostly kept her from running out of things.  OMG!!!   People….hear me now….You should NEVER have to put 50% of what you make back into your home based business on a monthly basis no matter how well the company spins things so that you buy in.  Having inventory is costly.  When you have inventory like that you will never guess correctly.  You will always be giving away out dated product and tossing things out.

If you are looking for a home-based business that you can make reliable, residual income from and you are willing to do the work it takes check out my free ebook. It will explain to you how to find a business if making money risk free is your goal.

Until next time I wish you prosperity, joy, love and laughter,  – Carol A. Briney

Can You Think Outside The Box?

I have been speaking with several people lately that have told me they are unhappy with their job, they don’t make enough money and most of all they have no life outside of their job.   I have listened to these complaints and challenges and they once they are done I always ask what are your plans to do something about what is going on in your life?

The answer I most often hear is I am looking for a new job.  This answer absolutely floors me.  The definition of insanity is to keep doing the same thing over and over again and expect different results.  What are these people thinking?  I even had a women tell me she was really unhappy with her job but the way she was going to fix it was to spend several thousand dollars to get her Masters Degree because she was sure things would be better in her job if she did that. Are we truly that brain dead?

My question is WHAT ARE THESE PEOPLE THINKING???  The chances of things getting better in a job that you already don’t like just because you change companies or go into more debt for education is slim to none.   Have you ever heard the old saying the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence? What do you think will change?  You will still be working for someone else’s dream.  You will still be told when to be at work and when you can take the vacation you earned.  You will still be told what you are worth financially.  The biggest thing in my opinion is that you will still be trading your time for dollars and spending your one and only life working crazy hours, sitting in traffic and missing the important events of your life.  – I wonder if anyone on his or her deathbed said “ My only regret is that I did not spend more time at the office.”

What if, just what if you were brave enough to think outside of the box?  What if instead of doing things the way they have always been done you had the courage to try something different?  This is what I do know; when you follow the herd you there is always a bunch of crap to step in.

I urge you to push yourself to think outside of the box.  Give yourself permission to think thoughts that absolutely scare the do-do out of you.  Change your thoughts and change your life.

I challenge you to look, really look at the business opportunity I have found.  It took me a lot of years to find it but I thank God every day that I finally did.  Check it out, allow yourself to really understand the power of reliable, residual income and the freedom that working from home can provide for you.   Allow yourself to understand the true power of working with a team that is paid to help you every step along the way. Most of all allow yourself to feel the truly glorious feeling of owing your own time and not only making a wonderful income but also most importantly having the time to enjoy what you make.

If you are an outside of the box thinker looking for a reputable company to partner with feel free to call me and I will show you what we have to offer.   I promise I will not waste your time and you can make the decision if what I have might fit your needs.

The Servant Sales Person

The Servant Salesperson

Most people see sales as a necessary evil, something that they don’t want to do and would most likely avoid at all costs.  Some people even believe that a sales job is beneath them.  Actually, in the beginning of my journey I have to admit that I was one of those people.  I believed that I would never be a sales person.  I believed all of the stereotypical things about sales and the people who do “that kind” of work.

As I entered the wonderful world of network marketing I learned many lessons.  The lesson that made the most impact on my business success was learning that when we equate selling with getting what we want it is a hard and most often unsavory business.  However, if we equate sales with serving other peoples needs and helping them to get what they want and need “sales” can be one of the most rewarding occupations on the planet.

When we sell our business to convince people to purchase our products or to join us because we are after the bottom line we are selling from a selfish standpoint. When all we care about is making money or getting to the next level people can feel the desperation in our presentation.   This type of selling is what gives sales a bad name.  We work at convincing and conniving. These activities are what make people feel that they are being sold, and I believe that no one wants to be sold.

On-the-other-hand, if we focus our energy on serving the customer by asking questions and listening to the answers with the intent to hear, really hear and understand what the person needs, then we are a servant sales person.   When you are asking questions and listening you can determine how your product or business can enhance your prospects life.  If you listen, really listen, people will always tell you how to present your opportunity or product.

The questions I like to ask myself before I start any conversation is:

1)     How can I be of service to this person?

2)     What do I need to know about them, their challenges, their dreams and their goals?

3)     How can what I have help them?

4)     How can I make this process as easy as possible for them?

Remember that when your attitude of generosity and helpfulness shines through

you are selling from the servant point of view you will be connecting authentically with your prospects.

Until next time, I wish you the best of all possibilities.
