About 15 years ago I was introduced to a network marketing company that I thought would make me a millionaire. This company had wonderful products, the person that shared the information with me was REALLY convincing. The company had a great mission statement, and my Dad had a life changing effect from the products. I thought I had died and went to heaven. This was my first experience into the wonderful world of home based business and WOW, I did not know what I did not know. I found out that when you make an emotional decision instead of a business decision you can spend a lot of years spinning your wheels and even though you are working hard you are just not able to get anywhere.
What I did find out is that it is not what you make in a company but what you actually get to keep. I found out that not all companies are created equal. Some compensation plans are set up with breakaways that actually hurt you.
I spent the next few years talking to as many successful people as I could and I gathered a list of business criteria for how to choose a viable, ethical, work from home business that can pay you the income of your dreams. Carol Briney is the founder and owner of Universal Order—a national speaking, training and home-based business consulting firm that focuses on simplifying life, and finding balance between work and play. She is a speaker, trainer, and home-based business consultant. Carol brings over 25 years of entrepreneurial and corporate experience to the platform.
